Video from a Miami-bound train shows 26-year-old Eddie Diaz pulling the train's emergency lever so he could fetch a cellphone he left on a bench.
Do you ever get that feeling you've forgotten something?
26-year-old Eddie Diaz had only been on a Miami-bound train for a few minutes when he got that feeling and realized he left his cellphone on a bench at the West Palm Beach station.
Instead of contacting a security guard about his misplaced item, Diaz decided to pull the emergency lever and as the train was coming to a stop he pried open the doors and jumped onto the platform, according to West Palm Beach police.
Monday night's wet weather didn't play in Diaz's favor, he couldn't find his footing and ended up slipping on the slick concrete and hitting his head on the platform. Now, Diaz is in critical condition at St. Mary?s Medical Center, the Palm Beach Post reports.?
Diaz's stunt held up the train and its 50 passengers for about two hours while police investigated. The case is still open and authorities are continuing to gather evidence.
